1 We work all day and never rest
For you and all your friends
We're up early in the morning and
Can sleep when your day ends.
When it's time for bed we separate:
We sleep under your bed,
We've tongues, that’s very certain,
But not in someone’s head.
2 At the beginning of eternity
I have my rightful place –
I’m also there awaiting you
At the end of time and space.
I’ve never lived in London,
Nor yet again in York
And you’ll find me when you’re eating,
But never when you walk.
