JOSIE'S POEMS

SHIPS OF FLUFFY DOWN

By Josie Whitehead

They float across their sapphire sea,
And are they looking down on me -
Those sailing ships of fluffy down
Which sail across our busy town?

They do not have to stop at lights,
Nor turn their headlights on at night.
They float away upon the breeze,
Above the cities and the trees.

Some clouds have shapes of things I know.
Look! There’s a castle in the snow,
And here you see a fairy train,
  A gliding ship or aeroplane.

But I must leave them floating past
And bring myself to earth at last.
I’ve things down here that must be done -
But watching clouds was so much fun.
